Receipts, crumpled in pockets, pasted in notebooks, or left at restaurants, are a trace. A collection of receipts constitutes a trail of places occupied and left. The installation builds as “customers” pass through the space. I take a portrait of each “customer,” printing two receipts, as done in restaurants. One receipt will be a souvenir for the subject to keep, and one kept for the purpose of the installation. It is an effort to make images less precious while reviving the physical memento.
